Multi-brand: managing multiple brands in your account

Create and manage multiple brands, assign a default brand to each space, and choose a brand for individual tests (Enterprise plans).

Written by Krystal Taylor

If you run research for more than one product, client, or business unit, one set of branding may not fit every test. With multi-brand, you can create several brands in your account, assign a default brand to each space, and choose which brand a test uses.

Multi-brand is available on Enterprise plans only. See our pricing page for plan details.

Brands are only shown to participants you recruit yourself. Participants from the Lyssna research panel see the standard Lyssna screens.

How multi-brand works

  • Each brand holds the same options as the Customize settings page: your logo, primary color, "Powered by Lyssna" badge preference, and the welcome and thank you screens (heading, message, start button label, and welcome image).

  • Admins create and manage brands for the whole account.

  • Each space has one default brand. When someone creates a new study in that space, it uses the space's default brand automatically.

  • Admins and Editors can switch to a different brand, or adjust the branding, for an individual study.

Who can manage brands?

  • Account level (Customize page): Only Admins can create, rename, duplicate, delete, and assign brands to spaces.

  • Individual studies: Admins and Editors can choose a brand and override its settings for a single study.

Your brands and the workspace default

To see your brands, click Settings in the navigation bar on the left of your dashboard, then select Customize. The Brands page lists every brand in your account, how many spaces each one is assigned to, and the actions you can take.

Your account starts with one brand, marked DEFAULT in the list. It's the workspace default: it's filled in with the Lyssna defaults and connected to every space in your account. Until you create and assign more brands, this is the brand your tests use.

Creating a brand

  1. Click Settings, then select Customize.

  2. Click Create brand.

  3. Enter a Brand name and click Create. Your new brand is filled in with the Lyssna defaults to start.

  4. Click Customize next to your new brand to set it up.

Customizing a brand

Click Customize next to a brand to open its settings. There are two sections:

  • Appearance: Upload your logo (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, or SVG, up to 2MB), set your primary color for buttons and the study progress bar, and choose whether to show the 'Powered by Lyssna' badge. Click Save changes when you're done.

  • Test screens: On the Welcome screen and Thank you screen tabs, edit the heading, message, and start button label. On the Welcome screen tab, you can also upload an image. For best results, use a portrait image (1:2 ratio) at least 2000px tall. Click Save changes when you're done.

In each section, click Reset to default to go back to the Lyssna defaults for that section.

Custom text isn't translated. If you're running a test in another language, write your heading, message, and button label in that language.

Previewing a brand

In Test screens, click Preview to see your welcome and thank you screens on desktop, tablet, and mobile. The preview reflects the customizations you've made.

Custom welcome screen images aren't shown on mobile because of space limits, so mobile participants see your logo, heading, and message without the image.

Duplicating a brand

Duplicate a brand to use it as a starting point for a similar one.

  1. On the Brands page, click the ... menu at the end of the brand's row.

  2. Select Duplicate.

The copy has "(copy)" added to its name. You can rename it and adjust what's different.

Renaming a brand

  1. On the Brands page, click the ... menu at the end of the brand's row.

  2. Select Rename.

  3. Enter the new Brand name and click Rename.

Assigning a default brand to a space

Each space has one default brand. New studies created in that space use it automatically. Assigning a brand to a space replaces the space's current default. There are two ways to set it.

From the Brands page:

  1. Click Settings, then select Customize.

  2. In the brand's row, click Assign (or the number of spaces, such as 2 spaces). A window titled Spaces assigned to and the brand's name opens.

  3. Under Assign a space, click Search spaces and start typing a space name. Each result shows which brand the space currently uses.

  4. Select the space. It's assigned right away and appears in the Spaces list in the window.

  5. Click Done.

Removing a space from a brand: Open the same window, then click the remove icon at the end of the space's row. The space goes back to the workspace default brand.

From a space:

  1. Open the space and click the ... menu at the top right of the page.

  2. Select Space settings.

  3. Under Default brand, choose a brand from the list.

  4. Click Save changes.

If you move a study to a different space, it keeps its original branding, even if the new space has a different default brand.

Deleting a brand

  1. On the Brands page, click the ... menu at the end of the brand's row.

  2. Select Delete.

  3. Click Delete to confirm.

The brand is removed from your list. Spaces that used the deleted brand switch to the workspace default. Studies that used it switch to their space's current brand, or to the workspace default if the space doesn't have one. If a study is still recruiting, participants who respond after that see the new brand.

Choosing a brand for a single study

  1. Open your study in the test builder and go to the Build tab.

  2. Under Setup, select Test details.

  3. Under Brand, choose a brand from the list. The brand sets the logo, colors, and default welcome and thank you screens that self-recruited participants see.

New studies start with the default brand of the space they're created in. To switch a study back to its space's default brand, choose that brand from the list again. The list doesn't mark which brand is the default, so you can check it under Space settings for the space.

Changing the welcome and thank you screens for a single study

You can change the messages or image for one study without changing the brand itself.

  1. In the test builder, select Welcome screen or Thank you screen under Sections.

  2. Edit the heading, message, start button label, or image. These start with the text and image from the study's brand.

To undo your changes, click Reset to default at the top right of the section. The button is grayed out until you change something, and it only resets that screen. It doesn't change which brand the study uses.
